As an individual enters retirement, there are several important changes that come into play, including managing tax obligations. Retired individuals in Pakistan need to be aware of the rules around filing their tax returns, particularly if they are receiving a pension.

One key consideration for retired persons is the tax treatment of their pension income. In Pakistan, any individual receiving a pension is required to file a tax return, regardless of the amount of pension they receive. This includes individuals who receive more than one pension, as each source of income must be declared separately on the tax return.

When it comes to filing tax returns, retired persons are required to report their pension income as well as any other sources of income they may have, such as rental income, dividends, or capital gains. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is responsible for overseeing tax compliance in Pakistan and ensuring that individuals accurately report their income and pay the appropriate amount of tax.

Pension holders must ensure that they are keeping accurate records of their income and expenses throughout the year to make the tax filing process smoother. It is also recommended that retirees seek professional advice from a tax consultant or accountant to ensure that they are taking advantage of any tax deductions or credits that they may be eligible for.

One benefit for retired individuals is that they may be eligible for certain tax relief measures, such as a higher tax exemption threshold or reduced tax rates. The government may also provide additional tax breaks for senior citizens or individuals with disabilities, so it is important for pension holders to be aware of these potential benefits.

Filing a tax return can be a daunting task, especially for individuals who are not familiar with the process. However, with proper planning and advice, retired individuals can ensure that they are meeting their tax obligations and taking advantage of any available tax reliefs. By staying informed and seeking professional guidance, pension holders can navigate the tax filing process successfully and avoid any potential penalties or fines from the FBR.

Online filing return is very complicated and one has to go to a consultant and give him 15-20 thousands rupees to him for filing the return
All the peoples will file return if the online Income tax form is made simple
    e.g just to write
    His income
    Tax paid
    Source of income
    All his expenses
The expenses should include all electricity bills gas bills water bills tax paid etc
Tax paid means all sorts of taxes withholding tax income tax etc
Income means income from all sources
    Assets
    Total value of assets
