Hello, we have a question on backdoor Roth. I called fidelity and vanguard and received the same response. We have received increases recently and are now over the Roth income threshold, so the plan wan to do the backdoor Roth. However, per fidelity and vanguard if we do that we trigger taxes on rollover IRAs we both have from previous 401k. The gov. Sees it as a taxable event where they look at full IRA account per individual and tax the entire amount not just the $6k being done at that time. Have you had experience with this issue?
If so what's best option just do traditional and dont do Roth?

That retirement plan is everything! As an older millennial I am don’t depending on social security so my husband and I are definitely making our own plans to retire without that.
