The Impact of Investing a Day Over 2 Years

In January 2022 I made a decision to start investing $5 a day into the stock market and into crypto to see if you could grow a portfolio with only investing $5 daily. After 2 years of consistently investing, today I bring you my results as of January 2024!

✨ The Challenge: In January 2022, I embarked on a unique financial adventure – investing just $5 every day. This experiment aimed to demonstrate the power of small, consistent investments over time.

💡 The Inspiration: The idea struck me as I sipped my daily Starbucks. What if, instead of spending on coffee, I invested that amount daily? This thought was the seed for my $5 daily investment challenge.

📊 The Approach: I diversified my approach – half into the U.S. stock market and half into cryptocurrency, particularly Ethereum, to explore different investment avenues.

📈 Stock Market Strategy: I chose VOO, an ETF representing the S&P 500, allowing a diversified portfolio in top U.S. companies without the risk of single-stock investments.

💰 Crypto Choice: Ethereum was my crypto pick, a deviation from the popular Bitcoin, to add variety to my portfolio.

🧮 Calculating Investments: Addressing the non-trading days, I adjusted my investment strategy to ensure a consistent $5 daily investment equivalent throughout the year.

🔍 Platforms Used: I started with Robinhood but also recommend WeBull for its high interest on uninvested cash, enhancing the investment strategy.

📅 Results and Reflections: I share detailed results of my investments, including the number of shares accumulated, market value, average cost, and total returns in both stock and crypto investments.

💭 Personal Thoughts: Reflecting on the lack of financial education in schools, I emphasize the importance and impact of starting to invest early.

🔥 Join the Challenge!: I invite you to start your own $5 daily investment journey and share your progress for mutual learning and encouragement.

Investing is a crucial aspect of personal finance that can help people build wealth over time. Many people believe that investing requires a large sum of money, but in reality, even small amounts can add up significantly over time. For example, just investing $5 a day can make a significant impact on your financial future. Let’s take a look at what investing $5 a day looks like after 2 years.

First and foremost, it’s important to understand that investing $5 a day is a long-term game. While it may not seem like much in the short term, over the course of several years, those small contributions can grow into a substantial sum. By consistently investing $5 a day, you are setting yourself up for financial success down the road.

So, what does it look like after 2 years? Let’s assume that you are able to earn an average annual return of 7% on your investment. After 2 years of investing $5 a day, you would have contributed a total of $3,650. However, with the power of compounding, your investment would have grown to approximately $3,881. This means that in just 2 years, you would have earned an extra $231 – simply by consistently investing $5 a day.

Now, let’s fast forward and consider the longer-term impact of investing $5 a day. After 10 years, your investment would have grown to approximately $9,551. After 20 years, it would be around $27,762. And after 30 years, it could reach a whopping $64,143. This goes to show that even small, consistent contributions can have a significant impact on your financial future.

It’s also important to note that investing $5 a day doesn’t have to be limited to just one account. You can spread out your contributions across different investment vehicles such as a retirement account, a brokerage account, or a college savings plan. This diversification can help you reach your financial goals and mitigate risk.

Furthermore, investing $5 a day doesn’t have to be a burden on your finances. By cutting out small daily expenses such as a cup of coffee or a snack, you can easily free up $5 to put towards your investment. Additionally, there are numerous investment apps and platforms available that allow you to invest small amounts of money with ease.

In conclusion, investing $5 a day may not seem like much at first, but over time it can add up to significant wealth. By consistently contributing to your investment, taking advantage of compounding, and diversifying your portfolio, you can set yourself up for a financially secure future. So, don’t underestimate the power of small, consistent investments – they can make a big impact in the long run.

I started $4 a day in BTC Nov 2022. So far I'm up over 60% on my money. All I had to do was stop eating out for lunch everyday. Just goes to show how a little saving can really go a long way.

I watched your other video $5 a day vs. monthly investment. Currently doing monthly and quarterly. Now, will do the $5 a day challenge for all my investments and let it ride the 25 years I have until I retire!

Hey Bob, I was wondering if you would still invest $5 into cryptocurrencies if there was a fee of $0,99 or would you only invest into the s&p500? I really like the honesty and openness in your videos!
    Thank you! 🙂
