Graham Young: The Teacup Poisoner

In the history of criminal minds, there are tales that truly captivate and shock us. One such story is that of Graham Young, popularly known as “The Teacup Poisoner.” Young’s dark fascination with toxic substances and his subsequent spree of poisonings in the 1960s left a lasting mark on the annals of crime.

Graham Frederick Young was born on September 7, 1947, in the Neasden area of London, England. From a young age, he displayed an unnerving curiosity about chemistry and poisonous substances. While other children played with toys, Young immersed himself in books that explained the intricate details of various poisons. Little did anyone know that this seemingly innocent fascination would later evolve into something far more sinister.

As Young grew older, his obsession with poisons intensified. He conducted numerous dangerous experiments at home, using his family as unwitting test subjects. He would lace his family members’ food and drink with toxic substances, eager to observe the effects of his deadly concoctions. Remarkably, his experiments often went unnoticed, as the symptoms closely resembled common illnesses.

Young’s first known poisoning victim outside of his family was his stepmother, Molly. In an elaborate scheme, he gradually administered antimony potassium tartrate, a poisonous substance known as antimony, in her daily meals. Molly suffered from persistent stomach cramps and severe nausea before her untimely death. While her passing was initially attributed to natural causes, it wouldn’t take long for Young’s true nature to emerge.

After his stepmother’s death, Young’s thirst for infamy only grew stronger. He obtained a job at the prestigious John Hadland Laboratories, where he had access to a wide range of toxic substances. It was here that he committed his most heinous crimes. Young would concoct toxic brews and secretly poison his coworkers over an extended period, often through shared mug handles or teacups. The unsuspecting victims would display symptoms such as stomach pain, nausea, and hallucinations before falling gravely ill.

His reign of terror eventually came to an end when his actions raised suspicions among his colleagues. They discovered his toxic laboratory den, complete with detailed records of his experiments and chemicals. In 1962, Graham Young was arrested and charged with poisoning multiple individuals, resulting in three deaths. He was initially placed in a psychiatric hospital but later stood trial for his crimes.

During his trial, Graham Young revealed the chilling details of his motive. He aimed to recreate his idol, notorious murderer Thomas Cream, known as “Lambeth Poisoner,” and desired to surpass Cream’s body count. In 1971, Young was found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Graham Young remained behind bars until his death in 1990, never ceasing to fascinate and disturb people with his twisted mind. His crimes shed light on the terrifying potential of seemingly mundane objects, such as teacups, to become instruments of death. The legacy of the “Teacup Poisoner” serves as a chilling reminder of the darkness that can lurk within individuals and the importance of remaining vigilant even in the most unexpected places.

15:30 this one reminds me of the kid either last year or the year before who was 14 and stabbed a girl named jennifer from his class 127 times (or so – I don't remember the exact number)

It's so terrifying that so many murders happen because they just "wanted to know what killing was like"
Apparently a whole 20% (not fact checked, I just remember hearing this somewhere) of the global population is born without empathy or sympathy. And I have seen it in person for myself and it makes me sick. My little 8 year old cousin (reader be warned for animal abuse) staples the ears of her dog and finds it funny when he yelps. She also showed no care at all at one of her cats' brains melting from the heat of the oven. I can't find it in myself to love her when she does all these things and her mother has the same lack of empathy so she doesn't stop her daughter and all this happened in a third world country far away from me so theres no animal protection and I just have to live with the fact that one of my cousins and so so so many other people on the planet have the basic brain formation of a serial killer.

This man just couldn't help himself. On the one hand he wanted to kill unhibitted. Yet at the same time he wanted to tell the world. A good thing too else he would have killed more.

Gonna have to assume that he didn't have the best lawyer in the world given that the guy ate a cake given by a notorious poisoner.

Talk about your kids all you want, man! It's adorable and everyone else can piss off.

Psychopaths are born not made, sociopaths are made not born. All psychopaths are natural psychopaths.

You should refer to the dictator by his original name, Adolf Schickelgruber

Winning a prize should not involve taxes.

In fact, going down that route you immediately lead to things like the scams in YouTube comments looking real.

After all, if they can charge you tax on that why can't they charge you because you won a game system from someone? Got to pay the tax on it just like you would if you went to the store, right?

So now you have just given the scammers a reason to exist. Now they can just tell you you have to pay for the tax instead of shipping and it sounds perfectly legitimate.

You shouldn't have to pay for a prize. It is not the same thing as smoking at all and I don't know why you thought making that comparison made sense in any way shape or form.

Hell, here they tax anything that your employer gives you and that's ridiculous too.

Imagine going on strike for months and the only thing you get is a gift card in the end because all they have to do is close your business and bring in another one with a different name that they own and that gift card is taxed like it's pay.

That's the kind of nonsense you want.

Im sorry but the image of some sketchy, drunk doctor stealing and hiding someones intestines is incredibly funny in a morbid way. Especially when his response to being caught is pulling out a tenner.

  17. Rob Bohr

The fact that a Blue Bunny ice cream ad interrupted this video was a bit of dark humor.

If you have any trust or confidence in the medical or scientific community any more, then you haven't been paying attention, I should know, I'm in it. Also, buying antimony and thallium isn't difficult, they have legitimate uses. That's like saying that it should be difficult to buy or own bleach and ammonia… any idiot can use harmless components/sustances to cause injury or death, just because someone uses something in that way, doesn't mean that the item or substance is inherently bad. Furthermore, a "Doctoral degree" doesn't mean that you're smart. It means that you did a lot of work, paid a lot of money, and complied with whatever the current narrative is. Anyone of average intelligence can get a doctoral degree if they are willing to do those 3 things, I should know from my experiences in grad school.
