Investors are becoming more and more frustrated with the traditional investment box they have been confined to stocks and bonds. Like never before, investors are educating themselves on diverse and better options. Self-directed IRAs have seen more attention in recent years, and the growing interest is easy to understand. The traditional offerings associated with an IRA like stocks and bonds are reasonable enough, but retirement savers want flexibility and freedom beyond the traditional investment types.

A self-directed IRA is an alternative version of an IRA in which the investor is not restricted to typical IRA investments such as stock, bonds, CDs, and mutual funds. The self-directed IRA, instead, allows for a broad range of investment types. This may include investing in real estate, precious metals, oil, gas, promissory notes, cryptocurrency, and more. A self-directed IRA gives an investor more control over their funds, to invest as they see fit.

If you’re new to real estate investment, SD-IRAs provide a sort of safety net as you navigate the industry. The money you spend on properties isn’t money you live on, drawn from your retirement account instead, and though you still depend on those funds, they’ll provide a foundation on which to build.

Really wanted to support this. But it's 1 minute of real content, and 18 minutes of fear mongering about how evil and selfish people are. A company making millions is not always trying to swindle. Morris, I understand the grind, but this should have been a 2 minute video with most of this edited out. Sorry.

What about those of us that currently work at a company, W2, do I have to wait until I leave the company to roll it into a self directed IRA? THANKS

How can you build a real estate portfolio inside here when the SDIRA still has to adhere to max annual contribution limits of $6000 per year? If your rentals are cashflowing way more than that. This is tax deferred….so you have to pay taxes when you take it out at 59.5 yr old and you're also subject to RMDs

Wow, finally someone who really gets it. Please send me any and all information you have about this. What a great option.

Why not do the same thing with a solo 401k? Why is the SDIRA better than a solo 401k?
