What did it sell for? That is my favorite of all the historic Winchesters.
When I was a youngster there was an mansion abandoned for years just up the road from my house. Us local kids played in,broke windows and such. I went down in the basement once where sat its coal fired boiler furnace. I looked up and saw something in the floor joists above the furnace. It was a highly engraved greener double barrel 12 gauge shotgun. Rabbit ear hammers, genuine Damascus steel barrel. The stock was gone, but the rest of it was in pretty good shape. I showed it to my brother, not knowing what I had. He worked in a North Carolina furniture factory and said if I gave him the gun,he had a friend that worked wood at home after hours and he wood make a new stock for it. Like I said,I was young. I never saw it again. My brother made excuses every time I asked about it and eventually I come to realize and accept that my own brother had just lied and must of sold it. It was beautifully engraved with scrollwork and birds in flight coming up from grass.
