Investors looking for a long-term investment strategy should consider buying and holding mutual funds that have a track record of consistent returns. Fidelity, a trusted name in the mutual fund industry, offers several funds that are well-suited for this strategy. Here are five of the best Fidelity funds to buy and hold forever:
1. Fidelity 500 Index Fund (FXAIX)
The Fidelity 500 Index Fund is a great choice for investors looking to track the S&P 500 Index. The fund has low fees, a low turnover rate, and a long history of consistent returns. This fund is ideal for investors seeking a passive investment strategy with exposure to large-cap US stocks.
2. Fidelity Contrafund (FCNTX)
The Fidelity Contrafund is a managed fund that invests in large-cap US stocks. This fund has a proven track record of outperforming the S&P 500 over the long term. The fund is managed by Will Danoff, who has been at the helm of the fund since 1990.
3. Fidelity Total Market Index Fund (FSTMX)
The Fidelity Total Market Index Fund is ideal for those looking for a broad exposure to the US stock market. The fund tracks the Dow Jones US Total Stock Market Index, which includes both large and small-cap stocks. This fund has low fees and can be a great core holding for an investor’s portfolio.
4. Fidelity Balanced Fund (FBALX)
The Fidelity Balanced Fund is a managed fund that invests in both stocks and bonds. The fund seeks to provide investors with a combination of income and capital appreciation. This fund is a good choice for investors looking for a diversified portfolio with exposure to both equity and debt securities.
5. Fidelity International Index Fund (FSPSX)
The Fidelity International Index Fund is a low-cost fund that invests in non-US stocks. The fund tracks the MSCI EAFE Index, which includes stocks from developed markets in Europe, Australasia, and the Far East. This fund is a good choice for investors looking to diversify their portfolio with exposure to international markets.
In conclusion, these five Fidelity funds are a great option for investors looking to buy and hold mutual funds for the long term. These funds offer a combination of low fees, consistent returns, and diversification across various asset classes. Investors should consult with a financial advisor before making any investment decisions.
Thank you, Tae.
In terms of Fidelity Bonds, how do you feel about FXNAX vs FAGIX? The latter has way better returns.
So you should just have those three funds in your Roth IRA and just keep contributing?
Great info…Thanks!
What are the best Fidelity ETFs to hold long-term? I was thinking on opening in Fidelity account do they charge me monthly or yearly to own ETFs infidelity
I hold FSPTX only in my IRA. The returns I’ve been getting from this fund has been insane.
FXAIX ❤
Tae, love the info. Just wondering what do you think about 'options trading'?
Excellent video.
As if often said, "time in the market beats timing the market."
Are the costs for a year, a month, a day? You don't clarify which…
Thank you for the video! What do you and others think about FFIJX 2065 for a "invest it and forget it" approach to a Roth IRA?
FXNAX has never made any money.
Does it matter how many bonds I can buy?
Vanguard or fidelity which is more solid
Well done. No nonsense, quickly summarized, straight to the pertinent points. The average investor with busy lives could benefit greatly from this and the Vanguard Best Funds Video. Subscribed and hit the alarm. Keep the videos coming.
Is FSMDX any good? Sorry im just getting started. I bought FXAIX, FTIHX,FXNAX and now looking to add FSMDX please help
it’s unclear how well each fund performed relative to the other for the past three years.
Nicely presented, Tae. However, you presented rates of return for each fund for their respective lifetimes, and the lifetime of each fund is different. Therefore, it’s unclear how well each fund performed relative to the other for the past three years. Consider a direct comparison for the period when all funds were available.
Excellent post.
Perfect video, Thank you!
I’m into the idea of holding for years, but why would you hold forever? If the money is in the market you’re not able to actually use it, so why not take some of it out once you’re like gonna die or something lol
VOO and VTI are all you need
With the FZROX cant you sell it from a Roth IRA account with out paying capital gain? or am i missing something?
Which funds should i put in my roth ira and brokerage account? Should i buy FXIAX for both accounts or just one?
I recommend FXAIX over the total market or zero total market funds due to it having slightly better performance and paying dividends quarterly as opposed to annually in FSKAX and not at all in the zero fund. So yeah, pick FXAIX for your primary US equities holding and setup automatic reinvestments of your dividends (DRIP). You’re welcome!
thanks 김서방!
🙂
Hi so which 3 should I put in my Roth IRA? I was thinking the first 3 is that fine what should I look out for?
Thank you..I just opened a fidelity Roth Ira for my son who is 15 wasn't sure what to start with but you helped alot..after watching 10 other channels..
Good video! I like FSKAX more due to better dividends than FZROX. Dividends help during bad years like 2022.
Does “Don’t try to catch a falling knife” apply to index funds? Is there ever a bad time to increase investment in total market index funds?
