In a series of major news developments, former President Donald Trump has been ordered to pay $450 million in restitution for defamation charges, while MSNBC has taken aim at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Russian President Vladimir Putin has eliminated his main political rival.

First and foremost, a judge recently ruled that Trump must pay the hefty sum to former adult film actress Stormy Daniels after a lengthy legal battle. The defamation lawsuit stemmed from Trump’s comments on social media that were deemed defamatory towards Daniels. This ruling is a significant blow to Trump, who has faced numerous legal challenges since leaving office earlier this year.

Meanwhile, MSNBC has ramped up its criticism of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, accusing him of mishandling the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The network has targeted DeSantis for his opposition to mask mandates and vaccine mandates, as well as his efforts to restrict local governments from implementing their own health measures. DeSantis has been a vocal critic of mainstream media outlets, accusing them of spreading disinformation and fearmongering.

In a shocking turn of events, Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly eliminated his main political rival, Alexei Navalny. Navalny, a prominent opposition figure in Russia, was recently sentenced to nine years in a penal colony on charges of embezzlement. Critics have accused Putin of silencing dissent and imprisoning political opponents to maintain power.

These three major news developments highlight the ongoing political turmoil and legal battles that continue to shape the global landscape. Trump’s legal troubles, MSNBC’s targeting of DeSantis, and Putin’s elimination of Navalny all underscore the fragile state of democracy and freedom of speech in today’s world. It remains to be seen how these events will impact future political dynamics and international relations.

Really surprised this was difficult to get across in the stream. All legal and moral issues aside, most people would like to engage in the actual act that is depicted in the p0rn that they jack off to, BUT with video games most people would be disgusted by the violent act they engage in within the video game and would much rather play the game. The game is designed to be a stylized reality, with the truly gory and disgusting parts edited out so the game appeals to a wider audience, while the p0rn is designed to be realistic reality where the arousing parts are the reproductive act, and if there is any stylization it's to enhance jacking off, not turn it into a game. How that difference affects the law or society is a completely different argument. – Adam

with a Mortal Kombat fatality you're not accomplishing a goal. You have beaten your opponent. It's purely for the insane violence…

What is worse, a porn comic featuring a character who has the body of a child but the mind of an adult, or one where the character has the body of an adult and the mind of a child?

What about violent games also getting more sexual? On one side it's like giving suicide courses in school: you are degrading the moral bounderies to normality by an excercising routine (fe. army training on killing people/guns in society). On the other side it's like hooliganism, where you have a controlled venting valve, where by the fact that spaces and safe spaces within rules exist, other out of bound spaces get more protection (theoreticaly). If they hook pdf's 3 times a day to the sucking machine, would there still be a harmfull need left or just controllable "less harmfull" preferences? You can't fix all the wiring without lobotomy, imo. Restricting society to one side only, gives the disadvantages of not having the other side as utilitarian tool! But i see a distinction in usage: not allowing sexual violent games precautiously exists on the higher moral level (and morality get's corrupted by power and $). Controlled hooliganism is the curative, and should only be praticed when the disease/sick urge (animal instinct/base level) is diagnosed. The best way to avoid it bleeding over into normality, is to dehumanize that outlet space because the distinction lies in the space and not the act. So that it is immanent to protect our human space/society. If you know these mechanisms, then make a ruleset so abuse is avoided and for the best(?) u don't have to give up a layer of protection?

I pretty much agree with Sitch's take on the violence in video games aspect. For most people I don't think that people play violent videogames FOR the violence. At least not past the initial shock factor. Most people who want their video games to be violent want it for the tactile feedback that facilitates into the gameplay. Sometimes that part of the brain even gets activated when the game ISN'T actually violent, such as in Destiny 2 which has that same tactile feedback but without really being especially violent compared to games like GTA.

Even in a game like GTA most people do the heinous crimes in it not because they're awful people but because they like pushing the boundaries of a game. Other times they just want to play the role of a character that's outside their normal operations with no deeper thought or consideration of actually being that kind of person.
