In this viewer requested video, I explain what the thrift savings plan (or TSP) is, I go over the investment options available in the TSP as well as the steps to roll the TSP over to an IRA after leaving the service.

*Note: I do not have a TSP and all the information in this video is based on solid research and speaking to people who do have TSPs. I have money in my TSP and another Job I just left. I want to consolidate my retirement accounts. Should I transfer TSP and former Job to my new job 401k or to an IRA? Or just leave it? I have some tax free contributions from combat but not a ton. Maybe $2000. Thank you for your help.

TSP is so trash since they limit your investment options, anything with the government is also slow and clunky

Sorry, information I need but can't sit through these crayon drawing presentations, not sure who who thought they were helpful for adults. Will continue my search.

Do you have to be 59.5 in order to do this? I would like to transfer a bit from TSP into self directed IRA (SDIRA). I am being told is it not possible from TSP.

If somebody were to Transfer from TSP to A Roth IRA in Td Ameritrade… is it only the 6000 limit or can we transfer amounts over the 6000 limit?

I have both and I retire from the military in exactly 6 months. I'm really torn on whether I should just leave my military TSP there or transfer it into my civilian TSP. Not sure what the benefit will be, if any.

3:45 Vanguard's S&P 500 Admiral Shares VFIAX with a 0.04% Expense Ratio is a fairer comparison to TSP C Fund.
4:30 You can transfer a traditional IRA to your TSP account but cannot transfer a Roth IRA to your Roth TSP account.
11:40 Only need $200 in TSP account to keep it open, not $500. — Summary of TSP PDF, page 19.
