Boy is Thanksgiving going to be expensive this year

  2. M_Scaevola

That’s why I denominate all my returns in the Turkish currency. I’m doing great just by holding USD

  3. Stylux

I was just in Turkey, lovely place. If you have USD you’re going to have a good time.

  4. Wonko-D-Sane

Wait… their rate was 13% and their inflation was at 75%…. the upset is the drop to 10% rate so inflation jumped to 85% 😀

So the government is the only one using this currency or what?

  5. eyes-are-fading-blue

That number is from government (I.e, BS). The real inflation is >150%.

  6. Brook030

With most countries importing goods, such as fuel, materials or technology, weaker currencies mean higher prices. This has fueled record-breaking inflation in Turkey — among the highest rate in Europe.

  7. KuroNekoX3

I’m living in Turkey and it’s a shitshow. Governments just shouldn’t interfere with the economy policy of a nation. All they know is spending and printing. Most of the money goes elites and their associates while people are suffering very deeply in poverty. I hope this changes next election in summer.

  8. Such-Wrongdoer-2198

What’s interesting is Turkey is maintaining GDP growth upwards of 7%. On the surface, the goal of GDP and export led growth seems to be working.

I’m surprised that the economy can continue to grow so well amidst such staggering inflation.

  9. Cold-Permission-5249

    Back to the bartering system.

  10. Clews207

So is this the time to buy whatever Turkish currency is?

  11. BATHTUBSURFER

But the political ads say that my current Governor is responsible for our 8% inflation.

  12. Unfair_Holiday_3549

Now I see why they became the European or want to be the European gas hub for russia.

  13. hiricinee

  14. drunkenmime

So I guess its time for the Greeks to start buying their lands back.

  15. stvaccount

Inflation is 300 percent. Even the research consensus it at 200 and that was some time ago.

    Good marketing on their part.

  16. Heap_Good_Firewater

Good thing Islam doesn’t allow credit.

  17. NoBongShouldLag

Where my Buh Biden fault morons at? I’m sure they’re to busy polishing musks golden knob to be bothered by the realization inflation is a global problem that must be addressed by the global community. Not some pretend dial on the POTUS desk.

  18. Shuttodeath

  27. 416Mike

Well, in all fairness everything USED to be super cheap in Turkey. Just catching up.

  28. TalkingBackAgain

Send Jerome to Turkey, he’ll end inflation inside of two weeks.

  29. Hallecat408

Fuck Erdogan and all of his supporters.

  30. JFrancisPS

Don’t be fooled by Republicans talking points, that Biden is responsible for high inflation. It is a GLOBAL ISSUE. We just came out of a pandemic where everything went to hell. The world shut down and what’s happening now is a direct result of that and you also have to take into considering that corporations are pathological and they’ll take every opportunity to price gouge and take advantage of the situation so their shareholders make money. We live in a Corporatocracy, they direct the legislation, they right the rules and our corrupt politicians sign off on the dotted line. Can Biden do anyting about that other than mention it, and he has, about price gouging? It won’t matter, they won’t listen. So stop this Republican bullshit story that it’s Biden’s fault. IT’S A LIE.
