Twitter delisted

Twitter is no longer trading, what does this mean for option holders? Since Elon took over my account lists Twitter as not found. Is this something that normally happens when a company is bought out?😩

Imagine the look on the guy’s face who was selling contracts expiring past close date of the deal for more than the buyout value when someone actually bought them

If your options were out of the money, they are now considered worthless, if in the money, I think you can execute them and get payout

Otm call options and all puts are worthless. Itm call options will be cash settled for 5420 – (100x strike price) so you will get the difference. You will lose all remaining time value.

    Should have closed on thursday.

It’s like that South Park episode. You’re saying you had these option contracts. Not anymore you don’t. You say what do you mean. Poof they’re gone.

When a company is taken private, the ticker is delisted, and your shares of stock will be converted into cash at $54.40/shr. This will probably appear in your account shortly.

if you sold otm options that had a strike price above Elon’s proposed 54.20 would you have automatically made money?

  24. Billystep

Your options will be cash settled whenever they are no longer traded. Or they will go to intrinsic value in other words. Otm options go to zero itm options go to real time value for monkey brains

  25. pequenoRosa

Usually in such cases options are settled “Fair Value” meaning using the underlying value of the takeover price per share, and then some time value compensation.. settlement is usually cash since the stocks cannot be bought or sold in open market

    I sold you those calls

  27. heizenbergbb

I still can’t get level 4 options but this regard wants to trade calls on a private company.
