Put a target fund in your HSA. REITs, ETFs, index funds and mutual funds in your IRA.

Im thinking 75% VTSAX and 25% VNQ for now in my Roth IRA. through vanguard there's 3k minimum for VTSAX, but I can afford that with "free money" I got from ex employers 401k, and VNQ is $130 to buy in right now

The comment section has better answers than the video. Read the comments. They missed WHY that question was asked.

My realistic retirement is 40-45. How do I make that happen? Through stocks etf or Roth IRA

Nobody can become financially successful over night. They put in background work but we tend to see the finished part. Fear is a dangerous component, hindering us from taking bold steps we need in other to reach our goals.

Great content I must say. As a first time investor when I started awhile ago, I didn't know what to do, then I was introduced to a great financial advisor named Suzanne Stephens Ellis, she taught me all I needed to know and helped me monitor my Roth IRA. My portfolio has grown so much. To anyone that is interested, she is the best I know.

I appreciate the guy on the right’s suggestions much more than the left’s.

Sorry kind sirs. But target date funds are garbage! Sure it’ll work for someone who is less knowledgeable and just let the market take care of everything

I keep reading a lot of doom and gloom for next years economy. Any suggestions on what to buy in a Roth IRA to prepare for next year?

I’m so dumb I didn’t know you had to pick stocks to put your money into. I thought it just grew alone lmao

    Spread out that asset.

You can back door your Roth IRA with after tax contributions (after the first $19k and catch up) in your Roth 401k , if your employer allows for it. However, when you leave that employer you can transfer all of your 401k Roth and after tax contributions to your ROTH IRA. I wished my employer started the ROTH 401k sooner.

Having fairly substantial taxable and IRA accounts my Roth is 100% equity ETFs

I'm about 20 years to retirement. I have around 20-30 stocks. For the past 15 years I've outperformed the market (by significant amounts some years). When closer to retirement I'll likely invest in an option strategy to get return from dividends & option premiums and also manage risk. (For instance, NUSI does this) and eventually move to fixed income investing (bond ladder) when I'm 5 years or so from retirement.

I like REITs. They outperform large caps, but their major drawback in a taxable account is they throw off a lot of dividends so you pay lots of taxes as you go. In a Roth it isn't a concern. Of course that is only about 15%, but I like that over something riskier like emerging markets (which actually aren't bad in a taxable account because they'll generate some paper losses along the way).

I follow the Boglehead three-fund portfolio model and dollar cost average in every week into my Roth IRA.

This question pertains to me directly as I am looking into what funds I will invest in when maxing my Roth IRA this year. As of now I’m 100% invested in a dividend growth mutual fund. I’m looking into adding a medium cap growth index fund and small cap index fund.
Do you think splitting my Roth in large cap, medium cap and small cap growth Index funds is smart?
My HSA is a target retirement fund. I’m 24
