Republicans Underperform in New Mexico, What Does This Mean for 2022?

In the recent elections in New Mexico, Republicans faced a significant setback as they underperformed compared to previous years. This disappointing outcome for the party raises questions about their prospects for the upcoming 2022 elections and beyond.

New Mexico has traditionally been a challenging state for Republicans, with Democrats holding a strong foothold in both state and federal offices. However, recent trends had given Republicans some hope of narrowing the gap.

In the 2020 elections, Republicans managed to gain a few seats in the New Mexico House of Representatives and even came close to flipping a couple of key congressional districts. Additionally, the state witnessed a notable increase in voter registration for Republicans. These developments indicated a potential shift in support towards the party.

However, the recent elections have dashed those hopes, as Republicans failed to build on their previous gains. Not only did they fail to win any contested races, but they also saw some of their incumbents lose their seats. This outcome is a clear sign that Republicans still face significant challenges in the state.

One key factor behind this underperformance may be New Mexico’s changing demographics. The state’s population is becoming increasingly diverse, and minority communities have been leaning towards the Democratic Party. Hispanics, who form a significant portion of the population, tend to align more closely with Democratic ideologies. Republicans have struggled to effectively engage with these communities and present a compelling message that resonates with their values.

Another issue that may have contributed to the underperformance is the party’s stance on certain key issues. Republicans in New Mexico have been divided on topics like climate change, immigration, and healthcare, which are important to many voters in the state. This lack of cohesion within the party has made it challenging to present a unified and appealing platform to voters.

So, what does this underperformance mean for the 2022 elections? It suggests that Republicans in New Mexico will need to reassess their approach and strategize more effectively to have a chance at success. They will need to address the concerns of minority communities and work towards building stronger connections with them. This could involve recruiting diverse candidates who can better represent these communities and ensuring that their policy proposals align with their values.

Additionally, the party should focus on finding common ground among its members regarding important issues. By presenting a coherent and unified message, Republicans can position themselves as a viable alternative to the Democratic Party, which currently dominates New Mexico politics.

It is crucial for Republicans to understand that underperforming in New Mexico does not necessarily indicate defeat in the long term. The changing political landscape requires adaptability and a willingness to evolve. Republicans should take this opportunity to reevaluate their strategies, engage in meaningful outreach, and find common ground on key issues.

While the path to success may seem challenging, history has shown that political tides can shift. By working strategically and effectively, Republicans in New Mexico can regain ground and make a more significant impact in the state’s future elections. The journey may be arduous, but the rewards can be significant for a party determined to make its mark in a traditionally blue state.

    Yeah, it’s New Mexico …

  2. Stephen Youhanaie

This race was not an outlier. Take a look at the generic congressional polls. They're about the same as the ones conducted just before the 2020 elections

  3. TripleL57

Until 2020 is adjudicated many like me will never vote again….

  4. Scoap

I tried to tell you guys on the stream it would be AT LEAST D+15, if not easily D+20 or more. this result does not mean there will not be a red rave. In fact this doesn’t change my confidence at all. Republicans will take back the house.

  5. Roger Ghai

It means nothing New Mexico has always been deep blue but keep fighting you never know we will get it one day

  6. Michael Shingleton

I know from last night’s live stream you would like to see trump give speeches like in late 2016. They were great speeches but maybe they figure they have the forgotten man/woman votes anyway and are trying to give speeches that will expand their support. Also you have a person who has been so wrongly treated so you cannot blame him if he concentrates on exposing and complaining about how he was treated and attacked. There is no doubt we went from the best president ever to the worse president ever. I would suggest you ask if you could join the trump org. For you have been the most truthful and honest person on YouTube in a sea of election mafia. I think trump would do well having you on his team. Good luck and God bless.

  7. Joseph Clark

It means the GOP needs to be replaced by another Party. It can’t be reformed, it can’t be won over, it never stands up for itself or its voters, and it sure as hell never stands up to the Dems in any long term way, except for Trump.

  8. Jelly Baby

Conservatives tolerate groups who are intolerant of conservatives, and there lies the root of the problem.

  9. Victor Guzman

Hey Can you make a video on New Jersey governor race and if you think that Jack Cattereli has a chance to win against Murphy

  10. GG Ductor

Really New Mexico, that’s not news

  11. titus Wilkin

Why voters to vote for dems? Especially with things like new green deal. They will force you to buy electric cars. And do away with natural gas

  12. Daniel Rosen

Could part of it have been the stolen election narrative? It is hard to motivate people to bother to show up and vote with a narrative that elections are all fixed and your vote doesn't count for anything.

  13. Ruth Butler

The NM GOP does not represent true conservative values and the will of the people.

  14. Mary

Live with it, we are not going to win every election. Elections will continue to be won and lost. A lost election is not a death knell. Its democracy and we didn't get the result we wanted.

  15. tmc che

Still using those electronic voting machines?

  16. Frank Poperowitz

I don't think none of this analysis matters anymore. The machine will chose who they want as POTUS or running congress. First, they did it in AZ with The Sinema Girl (dry run) and then nation wide with Biden. I am sorry but they got caught sleeping with Hillary and Trump. Won't let it happen again even if the second place guy gets 100 Million votes. The guy or gal they want will "from now on" get 102 Million. Call me cynical I guess, but I am done with all of them.

  17. Melody Jordan

    What's wrong with New Mexico?

  18. Scott Ganser

    Is Georgia going to decertify?

  19. All-American Dad

I wouldn’t look too much into it. Remember, Karen Handler defeated Jon Osoff in Georgia back in 2017. Howler the Democrats regained the House in the 2018 midterms. Republican turnout will be big in 2022.

  20. PCFan

I will NEVER vote Republican again if Republicans fail to take back the House in 2022. This should be an easy win!

  21. Tim Allen

I had several Trump supporting friends in ABQ but they all have all gone full Biden believing absurd stories about Trump. Democrats seem to have an effective disinformation strategy in that state.

  22. iamvictorious31

It means the majority of people there are morons

  23. Nicky Miceli

Don’t overthink it. This was our race to lose we’ll win in 2022

  24. tratter

If Republicans actually put up MAGA America First candidates, we will not see a loss unless the Dems just turnout heavily and even then it's going to be tight. However, more establishment candidates are going to just result in massive defeats like this. Still optimistic about our chances.

  25. Stan Kolodin

    Ensue the blue wave sht.

  26. Rex Brown

I think Moores will try to run for that seat again next year or possibly run for Governor.

  27. THAT GERMANICGUY

Hope that Youngkin will take governor ship for Virginia.

  28. New England Refugee

This is actually good for Red Eagle. Shows hes somewhat balanced not trying to defend this disaster.

  29. GlobalCitizen

Were they using the Dominion voting machines ?

  30. Joop Bekkema

Typical LTE reporting . Only one (extremely blue) district and LTE is screaming halleluja. What a bunch of fools.

  31. eddie moore

Face it anyway. There are places in this country that the left has control of and it will be hard to break through. New York and California are among the worst. Red states over time may pick up enough and start to fight back. Before it’s over, Conservatives will start to push out the Lefts radical agenda. It’s slow, but it’s progress.

  32. Jesse Goskesen

Dose this make republican voters not come to vote, because they think there vote don't count?

  33. Mitchell Dawes

i wonder how many ballots went "missing"…

  34. gav

Amusing how people still vote Biden after crisis

  35. robluck21

This makes complete sense, With Republicans declaring war on the unemployed and displaced American workers denying them their federal benefits what's next denying social security recipients their federal dollars? Why don't they instead criticize Illegal aliens, welfare queens, Looters rapists, and killers, democrats, terrorists, the almost one billion dollars in foreign aid Biden is just sending to central American countries. But no the bad guys are the displaced American workers they must be punished to the maximum extent and vilified. This so that that their country club friends and chamber of commerce friends will be pleased. Big mistake, there are not enough of them to win elections. But now we have proof that all they care about are their rich friends. Trump gave displaced workers $600 dollars a week that is why he is beloved by the blue-collar American worker. Sad Sad Sad day, to fall into this easily avoidable trap. Needlessly giving away those 2 Georgia senate seats over a few hundred dollars was just the start of this foolishness. Never go on record as being heartless and lacking compassion for Americans that will be the key to your undoing.

  36. Matthew Cordova

I live in Albuquerque I told some Republican friends to get out and vote and they had no idea what I was talking about! Republicans didn’t even know who mark moores was or a race for CD 1 was going on! Poor job by the Republican Party of New Mexico getting out the vote we should of easily won this..

  37. MyRealNameWontFi

I guess "based latinos" aren't really a thing

  38. Gabriel Iacoboni

I'm not that worried here. The total right to left vote was commensurate to 2020 at the presidential level. Both the third party candidates were right leaning. What makes tx different is republican candidates outpaced Dem candidates well ahead of 2020. Plus you have PA and local citywide elections in saint cities. I'm not saying this is good or the GOP can write it off but if I had to ballpark this the environment is likely D+1 to neutral compare to D+4 in 2020. This at a time before Biden actually now has to push likely unpopular legislation with some constituencies and the high he is riding economically and COVID starts to falter. That's how I see it.

  39. Teemo league

New Mexico is Democrat hell hole. All the California people are moving to rural new Mexico and turning red countries to blue .

  40. JohnInMorocco

It's what I would expect to happen in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, much of Oregon (Portland), Washington state (Seattle), Los Angeles and San Francisco, Berkeley and urban areas of California. This does not mean Republicans will not retake the House and Senate. The odious, corrupt and Far-Left Democratic Party haz made alaughingtock of itself through its policies and incompetencr. Look at the Democrats pathetic so-called leaders who spend, tax and destroy while brainwashing, corrupting and murdering children. They are plowing full steam ahead towards immoral destruction. Corrupt to the core.
And in 2022 many RINOs will go down in well-deserved defeat.

  41. michael bartow

Have to realize that not only was a republican running but 2 other folks besides the democratic nominee and that usually sucks the votes away from the republican. That’s what happened to Trump. I would have been more worried if a safe red district flipped to a blue one. The dems even threw in a boat load of money to keep this district blue so I would say chalk it up as taking a shot and coming up short.

  42. Angelo Padilla

One thing to add is no one i asked new about this special election in new Mexico the only way you would find out is by watching cable or your video, I was completely in the dark until I saw your video. Do you think a chunk of mainly Republicans don't have cable or is it equally democrats too.
