The real difference is that Fidelity does not use real indexes for their zero-fee funds, they came up with their own. Moreover, their indexes are simplified versions (include fewer stocks) of the real ones. One more difference is capital gain distribution and taxes. With Fidelity you might get capital gains and pay taxes, Vanguard reinvests capital gains and you will not have to pay taxes.
    Vanguard actually patented this approach.

Hello, I feel exactly the same way. I see that you can do the trade online, how does this work with the mutual funds I picked at Vanguard? Will they automatically be "converted" in a Fidelity equivalent?

I don’t understand the minimum required aspect and what you’re speaking about because Vanguard offers an ETF alternative instead of buying a fund. The problem I’m having with Vanguard is I transferred from my employee retirement account to them and they put a seven day hold on my money

Your correct. Vanguard when you visit their website was totally Broad to understand… Hard to navigate their website too. So I decided to go Fidelity, easy to understand and subjective.

I've been with Vanguard since the early 90's and just switched to a local investment firm. Vanguard's customer service along with their website are not what they used to be. I had an investment adviser with them but felt it wasn't worth it because basically all they did for the last couple of years was rebalance. On their FB page it seems that all they are concerned about anymore is social issues. They are not the investment firm they used to be. Thanks for the video.

My taxable investments are with Vanguard, and my Roth IRA is with Fidelity. Everything you say is true, but I'm sticking with Vanguard because I love VTSAX.

Did you transfer your account? I have an old Roth ira

Would you still buy into vanguard etfs or are there fees for that since you wouldn't be with vanguard anymore

I switched over to Fidelity from Vanguard too!! Vanguard was not user friendly

Thanks for this video and also thanks to those who recommended Suzanne Stephens Ellis for her good works. You all have to know that making money digitally is the main key to survival now.

Vanguard used to offer index funds that had a $100 minimum. Alas, Vanguard discontinued those and now only offers the Admiral versions. While they perform better, as you found the Admiral funds have a much higher minimum for start. You often have to choose the ETFs to get started. I have been a fan of Vanguard for years, but have become dissatisfied more recently. More recent research has shown that Fidelity zero funds outperform the Vanguard options.

did you get charged any fees when transferring? I know i was charge a fee per account to trasfer to vanguard (i was escaping a terrible whole life salesman but thats another story).

A well presented video, only real experience and trial/error can help you grow as an investor, with the combination of experience and skill you are on course to be a successful investor.

Vanguard ETF if you don’t have 3K….Problem solved.
I’ll stick with Vanguard… NO regrets

I’ve had the privilege of engaging in a more professional system of investment; which is a lot more profitable than other means anyone might use courtesy of the aid of an experienced fund manager. I’ve acquired ample earnings and knowledge in the course of my investments

Can't we buy Vanguard Index funds using Robinhood ?

  18. The Tundra Show

JP Morgan allows you to buy Fidelity funds along with Schwab funds. Both are low cost and do not have investment minimums. They do not carry a load either. I am moving to Chase soon.

  19. Jay Tee

I am sticking with Vanguard if I can. Their Admiral funds used to have a minimum of 10k. If you're going to invest and want to build wealth, 3k is nothing. If you can't save 3k, I'd argue that it might be better to work on getting a better job or skills for a better paying job. Time acquiring those things is probably more efficient at this point than waiting for 1-3k to accrue any value in the market.

Upon doing much research, the largest negative to Vanguard is obviously the minimum required. It won't allow you to diversify. By a small amount I do like the way Vanguard pays out dividends more often (on most index) and even the way they allocate your money in their index (which stocks they choose to make weigh more) but this is all negated by the minimum required amount. I suggest Fidelity to anybody just starting and Vanguard if you are coming at it with money already.

    I like both.
