What is recession? I don’t understand.

  2. attofreak

Wikipedia edit: recession is defined when 10 year-3 *week* spread inverts, so suck it, nerds.

  3. SearingPenny

    It’s transitory.

  4. pirateclem

    Boop, got your money.

  5. bigload8769

Well, nothing is actually confirmed untill Cramer says the opposite.

  6. Dry-Drink

Every recession is preceded by yield inversion but not every yield inversion proceeds a recession

  7. Actual-Plankton408

Does this mean nobody is giving way anymore? I bet the roads are chaos in the US right now.

Negative yeild is that even possible? Does that mean you have to pay the government for owning govement debt?

Welcome to 6 months ago when we all knew this

Recessions only exist if you’re poor ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4641)

Recession started 6 months ago, but now it is confirmed? A recession is going to note be defined as two or more years negative gdp.

  15. IndependentSmooth807

2 quarters of negative growth didn’t do it for you already ? Wow, just wow.

WSB being this bearish makes me want to buy calls

  17. luthertt

Recession will be confirmed after midterms.

  18. Buddaxkebab

I was also watching this closely but there was a single example in 1998 when it also did dip negative, it then shot up as that 1998 correction faded and prolonged the bull market until the start of 2000 when it went negative again.

So it might mean that we are fucked or it might mean that a massive bull run for the next year is before us

    Pls be a bull market

Negative yield spread can only mean one thing. Goodbye recession, hello depression.

  20. tacobell999

we’ve been in a recession, no?

  21. jecrieveritim

We have been in a recession for a while now, why are we still confirming it by things we can see it already

  22. TypicalAnnual2918

We are already in a recession but the bad parts haven’t happened yet. The bad parts are when you get unemployment and people will be struggling to make ends meet. People will flip from fighting to work from home to fighting to get money to stay afloat.

  23. Mike_Hunty

Not until we redefine recession again.

  24. AbbreviationsOwn9832

Sick and tired of this shit

  25. 243james

So if we are already in recession does this mean we might see a depression. ???

By definition we are…panic sells everything .

  26. a-aron1112

I can’t wait to see the mental gymnastics the White House does to try to say it is not lol.

  27. Vegetable-Appeal9301

When you look at historical information remember that the fed did not tamper with interest rates to the extent they do now. You are seeing these inversions occur due to interest rates being used to control inflation.

  28. Buttafucco138

Could not have happened at a better time for conservatives. Let’s go….

  29. brill1807

Watch how they change the definition soon, this time probably involve imaginary number or some shit ![img](emote|t5_2th52|4271)![img](emote|t5_2th52|18630)

Last two times it was negative were July 2007 and July 2019.

    I don’t see a pattern.
